ABOUT

The Grain Gallery, Sherborne is an exciting new venture for artist designer, Helen Moyers, Creative Director of Longpré, the Bruton based bespoke furniture makers.

As an artist-designer led, multidisciplinary space, guided by the progressive vision of its young curator, Sam Branch, The Grain looks to share its own creative experience to as wide an audience as possible; it’s guiding principle, therefore, is quite simply, ‘our creative journey = your creative journey’.

In line with the ethos of inclusivity, the gallery aims to encourage, support and nurture both established and emerging artists working across a broad spectrum of creative mediums.

The underlying belief that an artist’s creative expression has the potential to reflect the truest representation of their deepest inner self and, if shared with others in a visual form, has the capacity to precipitate a deep, often unexpected emotional response from the viewer, is the motivating force behind The Grain’s desire to present art as an important vehicle for change within our own personal lives as well as within society as a whole.

The exciting and varied calendar of exhibitions and installations will seek to explore the vital role art plays in today’s rapidly changing social order; pushing boundaries, questioning established viewpoints, seeking to provide a vibrant, thought provoking, however always relevant commentary through a wide range of artistic responses to our multi-faceted personal as well as collective experiences of our modern day world.
